Housing Employment Navigator
Description$19.23 per hour; 40 hours per week; Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pmFull-Time, Non Exempt position.
Engages participants in employment intakes, planning and services, assesses participants for job readiness, occupational training needs and need for additional community resources to help develop clear and realistic employment and educational objectives.
Works closely with housing providers, to integrate workforce services, goals and resources.
Coordinates with other pilot project partners to ensure access and participation in mainstream employment services.
Coaches clients in developing job skills, resumes, cover letters etc. and provides clients with job search information utilizing existing resources where possible.
Supports participants beyond initial job placement in order to insure job retention, wage progression, and ongoing connection with mainstream employment services.
Troubleshoots barriers to employment and supports access to flexible funds process.
Provides individual and group job search preparation and training to explore and develop the habits and attitudes needed to be successful in the workplace.
Assists with benefit planning, asset development and financial literacy to foster economic empowerment.
Participates in data collection and service documentation activities and maintains accurate client files.
Requires mobility and flexibility including meetings with participants at American Job Center offices, housing sites, client apartments, and other community locations.
Completes monthly and quarterly data and narrative reports on program performance.
Other related duties as assigned.
RequirementsBachelors Degree in Social Work or Human Services or related field preferred. Similar combination of education and experience may be considered. Two years experience in direct housing assistance services and building/managing relationships with community partners. Must have valid Connecticut driver's license and access to privately maintained vehicle.
